The sinuous, curving legs show the organic spirit of the movement. Art Nouveau flourished from about 1890 to 1910, taking its inspiration from the curves of plants and flowing lines, and treating furniture and decorative objects as complete works of art. Its surface carries the gentle marks of age, never overworked or artificially distressed. Its scale and proportions make it easy to place, and its character makes it hard to overlook. See less
