A beautiful mid-19th-century French Louis Philippe writing table, sourced in Provence, France. Crafted from walnut, the table features a generously proportioned rectangular top with softly rounded corners, supported by four elegantly turned legs with decorative ring details and rounded feet. The front apron houses three drawers, including a smaller central locking drawer with its original-style diamond-shaped brass escutcheon and a functioning lock with key. The two larger drawers feature turned wooden knobs and traditional dovetail joinery. Visible wooden pegs and dowels throughout the construction reflect the table's traditional craftsmanship. The walnut surface displays a rich, warm patina developed over generations of use, with beautiful variations in tone, natural markings, and signs of age. A gentle, characteristic undulation through the center of the tabletop reflects the natural movement of the wood over time, contributing to its authentic antique character. Structurally revised, cleaned, and polished with wax, preserving the naturally aged finish and character of the wood. Solid and stable, with age-appropriate wear throughout.
