This a very elegant late 19th-century French Napoleon III period mechanical table executed in a rich ebonized finish with Louis XV style curves.
It features a clever sliding top mechanism that glides back to reveal a pull-out gold-tooled leather writing slide.
It also has a lateral side drawer traditionally used to house writing instruments, cosmetics, or sewing accessories.
Accented with a gilded brass protective rim around the top surface and finely cast gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts decorating the sweeping cabriole legs and sabots.
Very good antique condition, consistent with age and use.
