Measuring approximately six feet in width, the desk is crafted from walnut and richly embellished with polished bronze ormolu mounts. The decorative scheme incorporates classical sun masks, figural motifs, flowers and garlands, giving the desk a particularly elaborate and sculptural appearance. The shaped writing surface is inset with dark green leather, finished with gilt-tooled borders. The leather displays areas of fading consistent with age, contributing to the established character of the piece. The desk incorporates three functional drawers together with three corresponding dummy drawers, creating a balanced appearance from both sides. It stands on elegant cabriole legs enriched with further ormolu decoration and retains a key. Presented in good antique condition and structurally sturdy. The walnut displays some natural fading, while the leather has areas of fading and general wear consistent with age and use.
