The writing table features four useful drawers arranged symmetrically, with two positioned to either side of the central kneehole. This balanced configuration provides convenient storage for stationery, documents and smaller personal items while leaving comfortable space for seated use. Each drawer retains its original brass handle, providing an attractive contrast against the rich tones of the mahogany and preserving the authentic period character of the piece. The generously proportioned rectangular top provides a practical writing or working surface while maintaining the compact dimensions that make this table particularly versatile. Below, the table is raised upon four sturdy square-section legs, creating a clean and restrained silhouette characteristic of practical Edwardian furniture. The simplicity of the understructure allows the natural beauty of the mahogany to remain the principal decorative feature. Throughout, the timber displays an attractive natural grain with a rich, warm colour and established patina, giving the table considerable depth and character. At only 92 cm wide and 46 cm deep, this is a particularly useful small-scale writing table, providing genuine workspace and storage without requiring the floor area of a larger pedestal desk. The 57 cm kneehole height provides comfortable clearance for seated use. Its versatile proportions make it suitable as a writing desk, compact home-office desk, dressing table or occasional console within a study, bedroom, library or living space. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century Edwardian origin. A desirable example of English Edwardian furniture, combining beautifully aged mahogany, original brass hardware, practical drawer storage and exceptionally versatile proportions.
