Cranberry colored glass was popular … Read more Set of 8, vintage Art Deco style, cranberry flash optic glass Cocktail or Water Glasses. Cranberry colored glass was popular starting in the Victorian age and continued to be produced both in the US and Europe through the mid century. The "flash optic" glass look (often referred to as flashed glass or optic-molded glass) using an intricate 2-step mouth blown process. Glassmakers layered a micro-thin casing of vibrant, expensive colored glass over a thicker, clear base glass, and then shaped it using a ribbed mold to create reflective geometric patterns. These dark pink tumblers measure 3 1/2" high and are 3" in diameter across the top and have a straight paneled pattern around the insides of each glass to catch the light and give off a lovely sparkle. As with true flash optic glasses, the base is clear and heavy due to the blowing technique and care in handling of the finish work (smoothing out the pontil). A striking set for a colorful cocktail tray or to pair with wine glasses to serve water with a formal table setting. See less
