An exquisite pair of vintage mid-century Italian porcelain shell-shaped catchalls by the esteemed Porcellane d'Arte Dr. Ermete Agostinelli studio in Bassano, Italy.
Each dish is sculpted from fine ivory porcelain into a classic, scalloped nautilus shape with deep ridges. The handle edges feature high-relief, baroque-style intertwined mythical dolphins (or sea serpents) adorned with intricately detailed scales and hand-painted heavy gold gilt accents. Perfect for Hollywood Regency, Coastal, or Grandmillennial interiors, these serve beautifully as sophisticated vanity ring trays, soap dishes, or tabletop candy holders.
Both pieces feature the authentic circular factory stamp, "Porcellane d'Arte Dr. Ermete Agostinelli Bassano-Italia," hand-painted "A" monograms, and "Italy" on the underside.
I love the scalloped shell bowl and the gold leaf dolphins.

There is very minor, expected rubbing to the gold gilt on the highest raised points of the sculpted dolphin ridges from light handling over the decades, which adds to their authentic vintage character. less
