Often referred to historically as pot cupboards or pedestal cabinets, these columnar pieces were popularized in Western Europe during the mid-to-late 1800s to serve as functional luxury accents. Originally created as bedside tables, today they also work as end tables, or sculptural plant pillars.

MATERIALS: The cabinets are crafted using rich flame mahogany veneer wrapped flawlessly over a curved wooden core. The deep reddish-brown grain patterns flow beautifully across the seamless cylinder bodies. Each pedestal is crowned with a highly desirable, inset white Carrara marble top with natural gray veining. The stone surfaces provide excellent durability against liquids and wear.

CRAFTSMANSHIP: The curved, hinged doors open cleanly using similar small knobs. The interior features structured, circular shelving. Both cabinets are anchored tightly by thick, robust molded plinth bases that seamlessly balance the weight of the marble tops, especially when the cabinet doors are open.

PERIOD: The one-inch difference in height between the paired units is a common signature of authentic 19th-century bedroom sets. In Victorian estates, bedside tables were frequently tailored to accommodate the natural slight slope of traditional flooring. Or they may have been built specifically to flank a master bed where the master's side or mattress tier was slightly offset.
