Its Bigfoot theme is expressed through hand-painted lettering reading “BIGFOOT BLUFF CREEK, CALIFORNIA 90162,” while the hinged door retains an embossed “U.S. MAIL APPROVED BY THE POSTMASTER GENERAL” mark. The sturdy metal body has its original finish, with patina, rust, and worn paint that show its years of use. Its unusual subject and weathered surface make it an engaging display piece for a porch, entryway, or collection of American folk objects. The combination of painted folklore and original postal hardware gives it an identity beyond an ordinary mailbox.

Measuring 20.75 inches wide, 6.75 inches deep, and 12 inches high, the piece is sized for display or use as a mailbox. It is in good vintage condition: the metal has significant surface rust and patina, and the paint is chipped and worn, especially along the edges and corners. The structure is sound, the hinged door remains in place, and all original components are intact. These visible signs of age are part of the piece’s character. See less
