A large early stoneware vase by California ceramic artist Sheldon Kaganoff, dated 1968. The wheel-thrown vessel features a defined shoulder, short cylindrical neck, and broad charcoal-black band contrasting with a speckled oatmeal glaze. Horizontal throwing marks remain visible across the body, and the interior is glazed in a warm iron-brown. Dating to the early years of Kaganoff’s tenure at the University of California, Santa Barbara, this vessel represents his studio practice during the formative decades of postwar California ceramics.
Brush-signed “Kaganoff” and dated “68” on the underside.
