An exceptional Flemish Baroque-style carved wood armchair, estimated to date from the 17th or 18th century, with sculptural detailing, richly aged surfaces, and a commanding architectural presence. Historic repairs, surface wear, and accumulated patina lend the frame an unmistakable sense of age and character.
Recently reupholstered in Castel's Baobab fabric in Ebony, a luxurious cotton-and-wool weave from the African Trees Collection, inspired by the landscapes of Northern Africa. The expressive contemporary textile provides a sophisticated contrast to the historic frame. Exceptionally comfortable and structurally sturdy, the chair is equally suited to a collected contemporary interior or a traditional library.
