Each substantial 10.5-inch plate is expertly hand-thrown and features a wide, beautifully variegated sage-green brushed border on the front. At the center of each piece is a uniquely hand-painted, minimalist illustration of various French marine fish (including Mackerel/"Moquereau" and Sardines).
Guillot's signature style is on full display here, utilizing delicate, translucent wash techniques and clever shadow detailing to give the marine life a striking dimensional appearance.
The reverse of each plate features a hand-painted inscription by the artist
identifying the fish species, alongside
"Peint a la main" (Hand-painted) and
"France".
With their generous proportions and sophisticated color palette, this cohesive set functions beautifully as an authentic mid-century seafood service or as a highly curated coastal gallery wall installation for a modern interior. See less
