Made by the renowned … Read more An authentic, early 19th-century English pearlware oval serving platter featuring a classic hand-brushed blue feather-edge rim. Made by the renowned Herculaneum Pottery in Toxteth, Liverpool, England, this piece features the highly desirable impressed uppercase "HERCULANEUM." factory mark on the reverse, securely dating its manufacture between 1796 and 1822. Above the maker's mark is an impressed size numeral "17", corresponding closely to its impressive 17.5-inch width. As a genuine Regency-era survival, this large-scale platter has spent over two centuries as a functional household object. It boasts a beautifully rustic, weathered look that makes it a perfect addition to an English country house, primitive style, or farmhouse decor collection. I love the blue rim and aged condition.
