This pair of antique fish molds features deep repoussé (stamped-relief) designs, showcasing intricate scales, gill lines, fins, and a textured tail. Each mold includes a small hanging loop or ring at either the mouth or tail, making them suitable for display. Alternatively, they can rest steadily on a flat base flange, allowing them to be placed on a table or counter.

These metal and copper food molds gained popularity in European kitchens, particularly in France, during the early 1700s.

During the Victorian and Edwardian eras (c. 1880–1920), fish motifs became a status symbol for formal dining, often found in coastal estates and grand hotels in both Europe and America. Elaborate cold buffets and dinner parties frequently showcased molded centerpieces.

In this listing, you will receive not one, but two matching molds to display. They are delightful in detail, each with a hanging hook. The molds exhibit a beautiful patina and remain undisturbed, with no maker's mark present. See less
