The case is made from boldly grained wood in honey, caramel, and chestnut, with swirling, flame-like figure that runs across each face, and the grain pattern changes from one side to the next. The corners are sharp and tightly joined, and a fine, slightly recessed lip frames the lid. The top is covered in a mosaic of slender bone tiles set in a running-bond, brick-like pattern. Staggered rectangles in ivory, bleached cream, and faint sage-gray give the surface a calm, softly shifting texture. The seams between the tiles are fine and even, and a few tiles carry warmer, parchment-colored tones. The wood has a warm, satin patina that shows the grain without a heavy gloss, and the bone is smooth and subtly lustrous. The contrast between dark, organic wood and pale, geometric inlay gives the piece a tailored, collected look. The lid sits flush and neatly fitted, and the proportions are low and generous.
