The body is covered in deep, rippling ridges that sweep outward from the hinge like sculpted waves. The glaze pools in soft cream and pale blush tones in the hollows and glows brightest along the raised crests. The domed lid fits neatly into the base along a clean, tapered seam, so the whole form reads as one closed shell. Crowning the lid, two fish are modeled in the round and crossed in a lively pose. Their scaled bodies are painted in powder blue with soft gray fins and tails, delicate gilded lips, and small, glassy eyes. Nestled beneath them, two small cockle shells in apricot, russet, and honey add a warm note of color against the cool blues. The painted details are crisp and the finish is smooth and even throughout. The interior is glazed in a clean, glossy white, with a dark rim visible at the seam. The pairing of tactile, wave-like relief and finely painted fish makes the piece both functional and decorative.

Generously sized, this tureen suits a dining table, buffet, sideboard, or kitchen island, where it can serve soup, seafood bisque, or salads, or simply stand as a centerpiece. It complements Coastal, Hollywood Regency, Palm Beach Chic, Traditional, and Cottage interiors. The tureen measures 11.5 inches wide, 10.5 inches deep, and 11 inches high. Condition is excellent: the glossy original finish is intact, the fish and shell details are well preserved, and there are no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. For care, hand wash gently with mild soap and warm water, avoid abrasive pads, and do not use in a microwave or dishwasher. Inquire today to add this charming piece to your collection. See less
