This sledge, often referred to as a bobsleigh, features two separate runners that can be steered via a kind of swivel mechanism. A ‘rake’, attached to the rear runners and operated by the person sitting at the back, serves as a brake.
It features a metal steering mechanism – or flexible adjustment mechanism – on the underside of the seat, which is made of solid oak slats, bolted in place, with iron fittings and a red metal steering wheel.

Models of this type were also used at the 1936 Olympic Games, as well as at national championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
