Red griotte mantel (fireplace) clock decorated with a patinated bronze group, les bergers d'arcadie (shepherds of arcadia) by eugene-antoine aizelin (1821-1902), featuring a maiden and a shepherd mourning at a tomb. The woman is wearing a flowing tunic and her head is downcast. The shepherd is wearing a woven hat and is holding a shepherd's staff that is resting on a stone bearing an inscription in greek. The tombstone has a partial inscription, also in greek. Signed and dated: ene. Aizelin 1867. Barbedienne and a. Collas marks, circa 1867 dimension: w 16.9 in, d 8.3in, h 26in. Dimension: l 43cm, p 21cm, h 66cm. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
