An exceptional and highly complete Victorian burr walnut traveling vanity and dressing case, retailed by the prestigious luxury purveyors Parkins & Gotto of Oxford Street, London (circa 1870). Known as Court Stationers, Parkins & Gotto produced some of the finest presentation boxes and high-end travel good of the 19th Century.
This magnificent box features exceptionally figured burr walnut veneer. When opened, the interior reveals its original fitted vanity suite and framed dressing mirror. The upper vanity tier houses a complete array of matching glass vanity jars, toiletry bottles, and rectangular storage canisters topped with beautifully decorated lids. Nestled in the center is a royal blue velvet tool tray that preserves its delicate original grooming implements. A hidden lower accessory drawer provides additional storage for jewelry.
This piece is a spectacular example of 19h Century British luxury craftsmanship. It serves beautifully as a functional jewelry box, a master bathroom display piece, or a striking accent on a bedroom vanity.
