We are pleased to present Finn Juhl’s 53 Chair, designed and produced in 1953 for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition.
A sculptural and organic form showcasing a sweeping teak frame that rises into distinctive, almost floating armrests.
Originally known as the NV 53, the chair was made by master cabinetmaker Niels Vodder. Vintage examples bearing the Niels Vodder stamp are particularly significant as original period executions of one of Juhl’s most sought-after designs.

We make every reasonable effort to note significant conditions—such as damage, repairs, losses, or areas that may require or benefit from restoration—but the absence of a specific notation does not imply perfect or like-new conditions. Buyers are strongly encouraged to request a detailed condition report, additional photographs, or clarification prior to purchase, especially when upholstery or other condition-sensitive elements are involved. By completing a transaction, the buyer acknowledges that all items are sold with the condition variations inherent to antique and vintage merchandise. less
