This pair of vintage cast fiber concrete pedestals is a sculptural tribute to the scallop shell, rendered in a clean, matte white finish. Each shell fans out in a broad, rounded crest of crisp radiating flutes that spring from a central hinge, with a softly scalloped outer edge that catches light and throws fine shadows across the surface. Below, two scrolled volutes curl inward at the shell's base, resting on a plinth carved with delicate wave-like arcs. A stepped, square foot carries a band of low-relief Greek-key and wave scrollwork, a refined classical detail that grounds the form. The flat top edge is built to receive a tabletop. The finish is smooth, chalky, and even, with a subtle tooth that highlights the casting's sharp definition. Slender mold lines and gentle surface texture confirm the hand-finished process, and the monochrome palette lets the silhouette and shadow play do the decorative work. Each pedestal is dense and substantial, with a visual lightness that belies its weight.
Designed to support a tabletop, the pair can serve as bases for a dining table, desk, or console, or stand alone as sculptural plinths and garden accents. They complement Coastal, Hollywood Regency, Neoclassical, Palm Beach Chic, and Organic Modern interiors. Each pedestal measures 25.25 inches wide, 9.75 inches deep, and 28.5 inches high. Condition is excellent: the original finish is smooth and well preserved, with no visible chips or cracks, and the pieces are structurally sound. For care, dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, spot clean with a damp sponge and mild soap, and keep out of prolonged standing water. Inquire today to secure this striking pair.
