This striking pair of vintage peacock blue glazed porcelain guardian lions brings a bold, elegant presence to any interior. Each lion is finely modeled in a seated, upright posture upon an integral rectangular pedestal. The figures feature detailed manes with raised bumps along the spine, expressive open-mouthed faces with visible teeth, and decorative collars with tassels. One lion rests its paw upon a small ball, while the other rests its paw upon a playful cub. The porcelain is finished in a rich, vibrant blue glaze with a high-gloss sheen. Crafted using traditional 1380-degree coal kiln firing methods, these pieces have a substantial, heavy feel and are designed to develop a richer appearance over time. These figures are traditional symbols of protection and prosperity, making them an impressive addition to any collection or interior space.
