A broad, rounded-belly bowl turned from warm honey-brown wood, finished at the base with a stepped, flared foot that lifts it off the surface like a small pedestal. Two fine incised rings circle the body, and the thick, softly rolled rim shows the confident, unhurried lathe work of a utilitarian maker, not a decorative one.
An Indian colonial-era grain or kitchen bowl, it carries the even, handled patina that comes from long daily use. At 10" in diameter and 8" tall, it has real presence as a centerpiece for a table, console or sideboard, as a shelf accent, or as a rustic holder for fruit, linens or dried botanicals.
