This is a remarkable pair of postmodern curved back love seats signed by John Masheroni for Swaim.
The loveseats are distinguished by the clean sculptural curves of the back corners. High arms and cushy L-shaped bolsters create the nook or playpen effect that was also popularized by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggins seating designs.
John Mascheroni, a prominent New York furniture designer, is recognized for his bold modernism and innovative approach to modular and ergonomic seating. Some of Mascheroni’s work is part of MoMa’s permanent collection, including his Tubo aluminum and glass coffee table.
These 1980s era loveseats are in good vintage condition. The silhouette is fabulous. The frame is sturdy. There are stains on the fabric, so the loveseats need either professional cleaning or reupholstery. The seat springs need tightening, as there is some sinking in the middle. Please see photos for more details about the condition of the loveseats.
Each loveseat measures 66" long, 33" wide, and 28" tall with a 17" seat height.
