This imaginative design combines a fixed sheet-music rest with an integrated candleholder, Apollo’s arrow, and a sculptural tripartite base.

The wrought-iron framework is modeled, textured, and polychromed to imitate the irregular nodes and tonal variations of natural bamboo. This sculptural trompe-l’oeil treatment belongs to the fantasy tradition of Italian decorative arts, in which natural forms and unexpected materials are convincingly recreated in iron. The dramatically curved supports and spreading base give the stand a distinctive, freestanding sculptural presence.

Its neoclassical character is expressed most clearly through the prominent arrow motif. The arrow likely refers to Apollo, the classical god of music, poetry, archery, and light. Its placement on a music stand establishes a visual relationship between Apollo’s musical and archery attributes.
