A striking late-19th-century George Hunzinger platform rocking chair featuring his distinctive “lollipop” circular motifs, spiral-turned detailing, pierced carved crest, and patented Duplex Spring rocking mechanism.
The richly detailed wood frame features spiral-turned uprights and stretchers, circular geometric ornamentation, carved details, and a stationary platform base with spring-operated rocking mechanism. The chair has been upholstered in a beautiful crewel-style floral textile in warm ivory with muted red, gold, green, and blue tones.
Retains its original wooden maker/patent tag, impressed with “The Hunzinger Duplex Spring – Pat. Sept. 26th 1882.” The tag shows age-related wear and remains legible.
Condition: Very good antique condition. Upholstery appears to be a later addition and presents beautifully. Please refer to photographs for additional condition details.
