This vintage handcrafted stoneware bowl takes a deep, rounded hemispherical form, rising from a gently tapering base to a wide, slightly flared rim pulled outward at two opposite points to form subtle pouring lips. The exterior glaze presents a rich, earthy palette of warm bronze, chestnut brown, and rust tones, mottled and speckled in a naturalistic pattern that suggests mineral-rich clay and traditional reduction firing. Fine horizontal ridges and gentle undulations from hand-throwing remain visible beneath the glaze, lending genuine tactile texture and confirming the piece's artisan origin. The interior reveals a lighter, warmer palette of ochre and amber speckling, creating pleasing visual contrast against the darker exterior and catching light differently when viewed from above. The thick, substantial walls and generous proportions give the bowl real physical presence and a sense of enduring utility, while the slightly irregular, hand-finished rim speaks to its origins as a functional studio piece rather than a mass-produced object. The glaze remains well preserved throughout, with only minor wear at the rim and no visible chips or cracks.
Use this bowl as a serving vessel for fruit or bread, a decorative catchall, or a sculptural accent on a table or sideboard. It complements Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, Rustic, Japandi, and Bohemian interiors. To care for it, hand wash gently with mild soap and warm water, avoid the dishwasher and abrasive scrubbing that could dull the glaze, and dry thoroughly before storing. Measurements: 10.5 inches wide, 10.5 inches deep, and 4.75 inches high. Condition is very good, with a rich, original patina and minor surface irregularities typical of age. Add this handsome handcrafted bowl to your collection today.
