Unlike traditional cloisonné, these bowls are made without a copper body—the enamel and fine gilt wires form the structure itself, resulting in a remarkably thin, lightweight, and translucent vessel. The enamel is highly reflective and changes depth and hue depending on the light, creating a luminous, jewel-like effect. The exterior and interior are densely patterned with a fine, golden "fish-scale" wire mesh ground, interspersed with hand-crafted, multicolored floral and lotus motifs with leaves in shades of green, pink, and blue. The rims and bases are finished with a thick, bright gold gilding that will not tarnish. This set includes four bowls, each in a distinct background color: a pale blue-green, a deep cobalt blue, a rich pink-purple, and a dark emerald green. As noted by the maker, fine hairline cracks in the eggshell body are a normal characteristic of this delicate technique. This is a highly decorative and collectible set, perfect for display.
