The architectural case is embellished with beautifully modeled ram's-head corner mounts, floral garlands, foliate motifs and classical relief decoration. The polished rose-colored stone displays an especially attractive natural-looking pattern of cream, ivory, beige and warm pink fragments against a muted rose ground.
The traditional white dial features black Roman numerals, minute markings and ornate black hands beneath a convex glass crystal, surrounded by a finely reeded gilt-metal bezel.
A hinged brass-tone rear cover provides access to the AA-battery quartz movement, which is marked Made in China. This is a later decorative interpretation of European Neoclassical and Empire mantel clocks rather than an antique mechanical clock.
Particularly impressive is the clock's substantial construction: despite measuring only 11" H × 8" W × 6" D, it weighs approximately 14 lb 6.5 oz.
An elegant statement piece for a mantel, library, console table, bookcase or traditionally furnished interior.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with minor surface wear and patina consistent with age and use. Stone and decorative mounts present beautifully. Clock is working. Please review photographs as part of the condition description.
