Antique French Burl Walnut Writing Desk With Drawer Gallery & Turned Legs
Beautifully figured burl walnut and sculptural turned legs give this 19th-century French writing desk a warm, distinctive presence.
The raised organizer features seven drawers surrounding an open central compartment, with richly patterned veneer, contrasting borders, turned wooden knobs, and brass keyhole escutcheons. A shaped gallery frames the upper shelf, providing an attractive display surface for small treasures.
The generous writing surface incorporates a brown leather inset with a decorative gilt border. Two broad drawers below offer additional storage, while clipped front corners, molded edges, and four elaborately turned legs complete the handsome silhouette.
The burl veneer is particularly striking: swirling grain and clustered figuring create natural ornament across the drawer fronts. An inviting addition to a study, bedroom, or living room, this desk combines practical organization with the character of antique French furniture.
