The thin, translucent glass body is scattered with colorful millefiori canes in an exuberant arrangement characteristic of the historicist revival of Venetian glassmaking during the late 19th century. The hand-formed ruffled rim gives the bowl a lively sculptural profile, while the applied foot and elaborate aventurine-flecked glass handle add another layer of color and craftsmanship.

The combination of millefiori, applied decoration, aventurine and highly manipulated blown form reflects the renewed interest in historic Venetian glass techniques that flourished on Murano during the later 19th century.

No maker's mark is present, and the piece is conservatively attributed to Murano rather than to a specific glasshouse.

Condition: Very good antique condition. A fine, shallow hairline is present in the glass but does not extend through the full thickness of the bowl. Please see photographs. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use.

A particularly decorative example of antique Venetian glass, equally striking displayed on its own or as part of a collection.
