Exceptional hand-painted German porcelain centrepiece dating from around 1850–1860, executed in an elaborate Neo-Rococo / Historicist style. The openwork, sculptural design is richly decorated with scrolling rocailles, shell motifs and lavish gilding. The centre features delicate hand-painted floral decoration in vivid colours.
The highly ornamental form and openwork construction are characteristic of the revival of 18th-century Rococo forms in German porcelain during the mid-19th century.
