Whimsical vintage Berkeley Designs musical sculpture featuring a richly patinated copper-tone watering can overflowing with an elaborate arrangement of dimensional metal flowers, leaves, and a delicate butterfly.
The handcrafted-looking floral arrangement incorporates layered metal blossoms and foliage in warm copper, bronze, and gold tones, with the butterfly dramatically suspended above the bouquet. The watering-can form gives the piece a wonderfully unexpected garden-inspired silhouette.
This is a working wind-up music box. The butterfly functions as the winding mechanism: gently rotating the butterfly winds the movement and activates the music. The original Berkeley Designs label is present beneath the piece and reads “Berkeley Designs / Made in China.”
The mechanical movement is intentionally exposed on the underside as part of the original construction.
