Based on the distinct cream glaze and other identifiers, this piece is attributed to Schumann Arzberg (Bavaria, Germany) from their early years (1880s) and pre-dates the use of their logo. During the late Victorian period, Schumann was famous for delicate floral patterns (like roses and forget-me-nots), gold gilt accents, cobalt blue designs and intricate openwork or reticulated (pierced) rims on plates and bowls.

The impressed "404" is a shape, mold, or model number; the impressed "Q" is a date cypher or size classification; the painted "24" or "21" is the artist's mark.

The artist's work and detail on this plate is very fine. It is stunning in its color and detail and displays beautifully. See less
