Direct from France, a rare antique majolica vase and centerpiece of commanding size, with sculptural irises, tulips and sweeping leaves characteristic of the Art Nouveau period.

The tall form rises from a broad base of lily pads and cream-white water lilies, through twisting stems and large projecting tulip blossoms, giving the vase a dramatic sculptural silhouette from every angle.

A band of violet irises encircles the upper body beneath the floral rim, continuing the floral composition around the vase.

Both sculptural and functional, this piece offers multiple decorative possibilities: the central vase and each of the open tulip blossoms can hold flowers or greenery, while the cupped leaves at the base provide additional space for smaller decorative accents.

Hand painted in vivid violet, pink, yellow, rich greens and warm browns, the naturalistic decoration brings the irises, tulips, water lilies and surrounding foliage vividly to life.

Made by the celebrated Onnaing pottery in northern France, known for its colorful naturalistic majolica during the Belle Époque, this exquisite floral vase bears the impressed French horn mark and matches the documented Onnaing iris-and-tulip centerpiece design, “Centre de table aux 3 tulipes.” A fine example of French Art Nouveau majolica, circa 1900.
