Fabulous rustic chic hickory tree limb bench frame with an eye-catching handwoven double twill plaited cane bench seat that consists of each weft passing over and under three warps on the top side of the seat with the pattern continuing over the sides and woven over and under with four warps on the seat’s underside. By weaving on both the top, bottom and around the sides, the weaving pattern creates an empty pocket which tends to take the pressure off the cane when someone sits in it hence the reason for the excellent condition of the seat. Photos were taken in the round to show all sides and any varying shades and nuances of the bench. Thoughtfully made with an impressive mortise and tenon joinery that provides structural integrity. This beauty measures 22¾” x 18¼” x 16” W/D/H; seat to floor 15½”; bench seat 21” x 18” W/D; weight approximately 25 to 30 lbs. In excellent condition both structurally and cosmetically with age-appropriate wear. This bench was made in the United States by an unknown maker sometime in the mid 20th-century.
