Rare Joseph Hoffmann No. 267 “Egg” Rocking Chair – Excellent Condition with Original Woven Webbing Intact. Unmarked
20th-century avant-garde masterpiece: the iconic No. 267 “Egg” Rocking Chair designed in the Austrian Modernist style and beautifully preserved in this high-quality 1980s Italian reissue.
Originally designed in the early 20th century (circa 1908) during the Vienna Secession and Wiener Werkstätte movements, this particular piece is an exceptional find for collectors, remaining in excellent vintage condition and retaining its original, intact woven webbing.
Constructed from premium black-lacquered beech bentwood, the chair features a striking, sweeping, elliptical frame that provides the smooth rocking motion. The backrest reclines seamlessly, and a hidden, fold-out footrest extends to transform the chair into a full-length lounge. Two distinct, spherical support bars securely lock the chair into the desired angle for customized comfort.
Unlike many vintage examples on the market that require extensive, costly restoration, the traditional Viennese woven rattan webbing on this chair is entirely original, taut, and structurally sound.
An exceptional addition to any serious modernist design collection.
