The dial reads Gent of Leicester rather than Gents of Leicester, a documented naming variation found on genuine vintage examples from the same maker, not a different company.

Before it took on any color, this clock had a job that had nothing to do with looks. It was originally a slave clock, wired to a central master clock that sent out a regular electrical pulse to nudge the hands forward one step at a time. Gents of Leicester, founded in 1872 by John Thomas Gent, built the technology behind this system, still recovered from old industrial sites across Britain today. This particular clock now wears a lighter, more playful finish than the black or bare metal usually seen on this type, paired with its original silver dial and running on a self-contained modern quartz movement.
