This Really is a Great Looking Authentic Antique American Country Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Late 19th Century ( Approx 1870s ). It has a Classic American Salt Glaze Exterior. The Front has a Large,Beautiful & Stunning Cobalt Blue Color Hand Decorated Stylized Flower Design. It is Embossed with the Well Documented Makers Name of E & L P NORTON in BENNINGTON VERMONT. It is Also Embossed with the Number 3 Denoting its Three Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. Back in the Day These Types of Utilitarian Stoneware Items were a Daily Necessity in American Homes, Businesses & Farms. in These types of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc.
It is in Very Good Strong & Sound All Original Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has Some Age and Much Use Over the Years Related Imperfections that Include an Assortment of Fine Surface Cracks at the Lower - Bottom Front Areas as well as a Small Chip at the Top Spout Surface.
