Molded in the form of a scalloped nautilus shell, the plate features beautifully dimensional ribbing and a soft pink glaze that deepens within the recessed details of the shell.

Wedgwood’s naturalistic majolica wares of the Victorian period are particularly sought after for their sculptural forms and saturated glazes, and the Nautilus pattern remains one of the most recognizable shell designs produced by the English pottery.

The underside bears impressed Wedgwood markings and date marks corresponding to 1891.
