This listing is for an unusual French crystal regulator mantel clock.
The clock dates to the 1870s and was made in the style of the Aesthetic Movement, with incredible Japonisme detailing throughout.
The 8 day time/strike clock was made by Charles Hour, a Parisian clockmaker. Hour signed his works as "Diette," as can be seen under the base of the clock.
This clock exhibits exceptional craftsmanship with his blue front porcelain panel and hand painted Japonisme scenes, mimicking cloisonné. The front panel depicts 2 birds resting on a cherry branch. Pink cherry blossoms, or "sakura" can be seen above. Several butterflies and a green bird embed themselves throughout.
The casing retains much of its original gold plated finish. This should never be cleaned with metal cleaners or harsh chemicals.
The clock measures about 6.75 x 5.4 x 11.5 inches
The clock ran and chimed when recently tested. Please note that any mechanical clock that is shipped might require adjustments upon arrival. Thus time accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
Chairish sells clocks solely to be intended for display. The mechanical elements are not guaranteed to be in working order by Chairish.
