The tall backrest is crowned with a tightly woven top rail and centers on a diagonal lattice panel of fine, beaded weave, flanked by two mirrored fiddlehead scrolls that curl inward like unfurling ferns. Beneath the lattice, fan-shaped sprays of coiled rattan spirals radiate from the center, each ending in a tight rosette. The flat, finely woven seat sits above a scrolled apron of looping S-curves and coils, which repeats the fiddlehead vocabulary of the backrest. Rattan-wrapped arms sweep outward with decorative loops beneath, and slender vertical posts rise at the back corners, bound in twisted, spiraled cane. Four splayed, tapered legs wrapped in rattan are joined by crossed stretchers for stability. The white paint has a soft, aged sheen, with slight discoloration and small areas of wear at the leg tips and wrapped joints that add an authentic vintage patina. Every curl and coil is meticulously hand-bent, making the openwork as visually light as it is elaborate.
