A striking side or slipper chair with a pierced back splat carved as a radiant sun. The serpentine crest rail is carved with scrolling acanthus and a central palmette, and the frame sits on turned baluster front legs with gracefully splayed saber back legs. Solid fruitwood frame in a warm tone. The generously domed seat is built over genuine coil springs and currently wears a gold damask.
The radiant sun with a human face is one of the oldest motifs in decorative art, from the Romans to Fornasetti, it's a classic motif which still feels fresh.
