The antique gold surface highlights ornate scrolled columns, linen drum shades, characteristic of France furniture making in the rococo revival tradition, of the rococo revival period. Its patina has developed slowly and naturally over the years, the kind of depth that cannot be faked or hurried. An object that has already survived this long carries a kind of authenticity no reproduction can offer, and living with it means becoming part of its ongoing story. Rather than buying something destined for a landfill in a few years, an antique like this rewards you with materials and joinery built to be repaired, not discarded. It is well suited to flanking a sofa or seating group. See less
