An unusual late 19th-century English copper ice cream mould or dessert pot, featuring a beautifully aged copper body, fitted lid with arched loop brass handle, and raised brass foot. The vessel displays an exceptionally warm, naturally developed copper patina with darker areas of oxidation and surface wear consistent with age and use.
The rounded form, removable lid and raised foot are characteristic of Victorian copper dessert moulds. Closely related English examples are documented as late Victorian ice cream moulds, including a circa-1880 pair attributed to Harrods and constructed in copper and brass.
A wonderful decorative object for a country kitchen, dining room, pantry or antique collection, and equally appealing displayed simply as an architectural copper vessel.
