Being offered is an oversized Viking Glass Epic “Low Bowl” #1411 21.75 in Lilac (Teaberry). Also referred to as a Lotus Petal or “6 Petal”. The color Lilac was only produced from 1961 to 1962 and then was permanently discontinued. Viking Glass Company introduced #1411 in 1960/1. This piece was made in this color for less than two years.
This mid-century masterpiece measures 20.25” - 21.50” width, and between 3” - 4” height. Weighing in at almost 6 lbs 2 ounces.
This exact piece is a true time capsule. It has been safely packed away and untouched in my home for the last 35 years, shielding the glass from the elements and household handling for decades, bypassing the typical wear and tear of estate glass.
One of things I find most delightful about this piece is how dramatically the appearance changes with perspective. The varying thickness and sculptural contour of the glass seem to create a different picture each time the piece is viewed . Turn slightly, adjust the light or simply change your point of view and new depths of colors, shadows and shapes appear. Even after spending considerable time photographing this piece, I still find myself surprised and delighted by what the next angle reveals.
It is one of those rare pieces that does not have just one “best side” .
Item will be professionally boxed, insured and shipped. You will receive the exact piece shown in photos.
