Circa 1915 Tiffany Studios New York seven-piece Venetian pattern desk set in richly detailed gilt bronze, comprising a letter rack, notepad holder, rocker blotter, and four desk blotter corners.

One of Tiffany Studios' more elaborate desk accessory patterns, the Venetian design combines finely chased Renaissance-inspired ornament with distinctive decorative borders, giving even these practical writing accessories the quality of small works of decorative art.

The set includes:
• Letter rack, marked Tiffany Studios New York, No. 1643 — 6.5"W × 4.5"D × 3"H
• Notepad holder, marked Tiffany Studios New York, No. 1691 — 4.75"W × .5"D × 7.66"H
• Rocker blotter, signed and numbered along the end edge — 5.5"W × 2.87"D × 2"H

Tiffany Studios' Venetian pattern was inspired by the elaborate tooled leatherwork of 16th-century Venice, an influence Tiffany translated into richly patterned gilt bronze. One of the pattern's most distinctive details is a procession of running ermines, specifically referenced in Tiffany's own period catalogue.

The ermines are particularly well defined throughout this set, appearing in openwork borders amid scrolling foliage. They are an easily overlooked detail—and one that rewards a closer look. Combined with the intricate Renaissance-inspired ornament, they help distinguish Venetian as one of Tiffany Studios' most imaginative desk-set patterns.
