Vintage set of four Hutschenreuther Noblesse porcelain demitasse cups with matching saucers, made in Germany and decorated with colorful bird and botanical designs derived from the drawings of John James Audubon. Each cup features a different bird surrounded by delicately rendered foliage and flowers, with coordinating botanical decoration on the saucer. Gold rims and slender gilt-accented handles finish the set.

The underside bears the Lorenz Hutschenreuther Germany Noblesse mark, PASCO mark, and the inscription “Born in Swellness from the drawings of Audubon.” The Audubon Bird pattern is documented as a discontinued Hutschenreuther pattern made in Germany.

Their smaller scale makes these especially appealing for espresso or after-dinner coffee, but I also like them for a guest room bedside table—a pretty cup and saucer is one of those small details that makes morning coffee feel a little more considered.
