This is a pair of monumental 20th-century Italian white-glazed terracotta Chinoiserie statues.
This striking, Hollywood Regency-style pair features a seated Mandarin couple rendered in the "Chinese taste". The male figure is depicted wearing a traditional conical hat, while the female figure holds an open fan. Both figures are seated atop tall, inverted paneled square baluster pedestals trimmed with decorative temple bells. They are finished in a beautifully aged, distressed blanc de chine crackle glaze over hand-crafted Italian terracotta, lending a timeless, architectural character to both indoor and gallery spaces.
Very good vintage condition, consistent with age and use. Original patina.
No chips or repairs.
