A beautifully crafted vintage kneehole desk/vanity by Berkey & Gay Furniture Co. of Grand Rapids, Michigan — authenticated with the original brass "Berkey & Gay Furniture" trademark medallion inside the center drawer, and sold together with its matching caned vanity bench.
Finished in the Jacobean Revival style to match the label's celebrated 1920s–30s output, the desk features book-matched burl walnut drawer and door fronts, carved diamond fretwork medallions with fleur-de-lis accents, turned baluster drop pulls, and beaded gallery trim along the top edge.
A protective glass top sits over the original surface. The center drawer is felt-lined; flanking pedestal cabinets offer generous storage with matching carved doors, raised on turned baluster legs joined by a box stretcher.
The companion bench features a hand-caned seat set in a carved wood frame, raised on matching turned baluster legs joined by a box stretcher — echoing the desk's leg detailing exactly. The underside carries a stamped factory number (5187), consistent with original period manufacturing practice.
A wonderful, well-proportioned desk and bench set with real presence, offered together as a matched pair.
